A Wave of Progress in Our Transformation
The Cleveland Museum of Natural History has received approval for the schematic designs of its Transformation Project from the Euclid Corridor Design Review Committee and the Cleveland City Planning Commission. This marks a major step forward in the Museum transforming its physical campus on Wade Oval.
“It’s pretty amazing,” President and CEO Sonia Winner told the Cleveland Plain Dealer. “It’s actually happening. That’s what we’re so thrilled to tell the community.
The designs, presented to the review committees by the Museum and its architectural partner DLR | Westlake Reed Leskosky, turn the Museum’s physical exterior into part of the visitor experience: inspired by the glaciers that formed our regional landscape and telling the stories of water, local biodiversity, and conservation.
This is just the latest in a series of momentum-building events related to the Museum’s project, and comes on the heels of the Museum announcing its partnership with nationally renowned design firm Gallagher and Associates to helm its interior exhibit designs.
Partnering with innovative industry leaders and producing bold, transformative designs speak to the Museum’s larger vision for an evolved natural history museum experience.
“Natural history museums have always told the story of life on a timeline: past, present and future,’’ said Winner.“ We’re trying to tell the story about humans, and how this museum is about us and the impact we are having on our environment and on our world, both positive and negative.”
