Make a Virtual Connection with Your Wild Side
The Cleveland Museum of Natural History has launched a new website dedicated to the Ralph Perkins II Wildlife Center & Woods Garden — Presented by KeyBank. The new site takes guests deeper into the world of Ohio nature and the Perkins Wildlife Center experience, whether from their homes or while they are visiting the Museum.
You can visit the new site at cmnh.org/perkins.
The site provides in-depth content on the distinct ecosystems created in the new Perkins center, as well as information about each animal species that inhabit them. The site offers the Museum flexibility to add video content, photo galleries and a wealth of content that cannot be physically housed in the wildlife center itself.
In the spring, the site will add a new wildlife blog, offering peeks into the daily care of our animals, animal enrichment and conservation initiatives underway at the center. In addition, the site will be home to the Museum’s popular “Creature Feature” web video series, as well as a new “Protecting Natural Ohio” web video series. The latter will establish connections between Ohio ecosystems in Perkins Wildlife Center and the Museum’s Division of Natural Areas, which stewards and protects the Museum’s “living collection” of nearly 8,000 total acres of nature preserves spread throughout Ohio.
“The Museum is committed to serving as an outstanding science education resource for our community,” says Dr. Evalyn Gates, executive director & CEO. “With the launch of this new site, we are expanding the Museum’s virtual footprint and welcoming all to explore the world of Ohio nature and wildlife. This is an invitation to dive into the adventure of nature and science, developing a deeper understanding of the natural world around us and appreciation for the fascinating beauty of wild Ohio — extending and enhancing the experience for both on-line and in-person visitors to the Museum.”
The Cleveland Museum of Natural History welcomes more than 300,000 visitors — including more than 80,000 students — annually, and hosts an additional 600,000 visitors to its website and social media channels. This new website is among the first steps the Museum is taking to expand the reach of its mission outside of its doors, while providing resources for up-to-the-minute new content to supplement the Museum’s visitor experience.
