CLE Diet Project

Want to take a break from learning about science to participate in a research project? Dr. Nicole Burt, Curator of Human Health and Evolutionary Medicine, is collecting data on diet in Cleveland to better understand diet we want to know more about what people eat, why they eat it, and what they wish they were eating.

Are You What You Eat?

As part of her study, Dr. Burt is looking for adults in the greater Cleveland area who would like to take part in a study of diet and eating habits (Study20191548).

Participants are asked to complete a dietary survey and provide a bio-sample (cut hair sample) to reconstruct diet. We expect participation to take about 30-40 minutes. Participation is completely voluntary.

Early Childhood Diet in Cleveland

Dr. Burt is also collecting single rooted baby teeth (already shed or removed) from parents to research breastfeeding and weaning timing of their children. Adult consent is required to donate a tooth and participate (Study20191548).

Participants are asked to complete a survey about breastfeeding and diet and provide a baby tooth for dietary reconstruction. We expect participation to take about 30-40 minutes. Participation is completely voluntary.

To get involved attend one of our upcoming events at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History.
