Popular Science and Nature Lecture Series Returns
The Museum's popular Explorer Series returns for the 2015-2016 season at 7pm Friday, September 18 when Dr. Nicole Burt of the Cleveland Museum of Natural History presents “You Are What You Eat: The Science of Reconstructing Diet.”
Presented by PNC Bank and the Women’s Committee of the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, the Explorer Series is a lecture series featuring acclaimed scientists, authors and experts from across the globe addressing topics relating to natural history, the natural sciences, human health and challenges facing our environment.
“The Explorer Series has been a cornerstone of the Museum’s commitment to lifelong learning for more than 35 years,” said Dr. Evalyn Gates, executive director and CEO. “These lectures are a unique opportunity to fuel our curiosity and to be transported alongside these adventurers to the frontiers of scientific discovery.”
Dr. Burt’s presentation is the first in the 10-date series, running from September 2015 through May 2016. Just some of the other topics covered in this season’s series include the discovery of an unprecedented diversity of dinosaur fossils in Patagonia and Antarctica, the art of recreating ancient fermented beverages, tapping into the mind of man’s best friend, the chemical ecology of poison frogs and more.
Doors open for each lecture at 5:30pm with live music, a cash bar and light appetizers available before the lecture begins at 7pm. Meals are available for purchase from Exploration: A Zack Bruell Restaurant.
Tickets may be purchased for individual lectures or for lecture packages. See the
