A Message from the President & CEO

Stay at Home

Dear Friends of the Museum,

This has been a difficult number of days for you and your loved ones. I write to update you on what is happening at the Museum.

The Museum is in full compliance with Governor Mike DeWine’s Shelter in Place order. We have entrusted our campus to our capable Protection Services, Facilities, and Wildlife teams. They have been invaluable. I will never be able to express how grateful I am for all they have done during this unprecedented time.

We are sending daily “All-In” Updates to staff so that we can stay connected to each other as we work from our various remote locations. We are also conducting a trivia contest relating to the Museum’s assets, and sharing photos of our pet and baby bosses who are working with us at home.

In addition, we are working together to help our community of learners gain new insight into our amazing museum. Next week, we will launch CMNH@HOME, which will provide engaging virtual-science classes, in-depth looks at wildlife, and spotlights on our scientists and specimens. You can follow along as content is added at www.CMNH.org. We will also be sharing this content through social-media platforms, so if you aren’t already on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, you are missing out on a lot of information about the Museum! During this time when we are all looking for new things to learn, these platforms are a wonderful way to stay in touch:

We have extended our cancellation and postponement of major events and programs and are aligning our messaging with other cultural institutions. We stand as a united front to support one another.  We will do all that we can to keep our members and donors connected to our important mission.

The next few weeks will challenge all of us to think about how we interact with each other and our planet. The answer is always in nature. Enjoy the beauty of our planet. Respect the fragility of life. Treasure the people we love.

I am hopeful that we will emerge from this experience an even stronger, more dynamic institution. A challenge always represents an opportunity, and I am confident in our ability to grow and evolve.

Let’s keep exploring together.
