Seed Share

A Lending Library of Plant Life
Are you a gardener? Native plant enthusiast? Interested in encouraging pollinators and attracting birds? The Museum's Seed Share program is for you!

Housed in the Harold T. Clark Library’s former card catalog, Seed Share is a source of seeds for annuals, herbs, vegetables, fruits and native Ohio wildflowers. Take a few, grow, and bring some back to share! If you garden, consider contributing seeds you’ve saved from your favorite garden plants (no non-native invasives, please). Label seed donations in detail and leave in a sealed packet atop the card catalog cabinets or give to the librarian on duty.

As autumn approaches, the native plants drawer will be stocked with a fresh supply of milkweed (Asclepias) seeds to grow as host plants for monarch butterflies. In mid-winter our inventory of vegetable varieties will be refreshed.

Please note that many of the commercially sourced seeds we have are from previous growing seasons. We endeavor to provide these free seeds with good prospects for germination, but there is no guarantee.

Seed Share is free and open for lending during library hours. Email [email protected] or call 216-231-4600 to confirm hours and availability before your visit. We encourage you to contact us with any questions, suggestions or feedback you may have!
