VIRTUAL FIELD TRIPS & LEARNING EXPERIENCES

Connect your students to Museum instruction from your school or from their homes with the Museum’s award-winning Virtual Field Trips & Learning Experiences. Formerly known as Interactive Video Conference (IVC) programs, we've expanded our technology and offerings to provide even more virtual programs that are available to fit your schedule and curriculum needs. These programs have earned the Pinnacle Award from the Center for Interactive Learning and Collaboration since 2009. Your students can access our programs through our secure Zoom account, dedicated video-conference systems, or Google Meet.

Program Costs
-
$200 for a single classroom
-
$250 for multiple classrooms together
CONFIRMATION/CANCELLATION
You will receive a confirmation prior to your program. Please check for accuracy. To avoid a cancellation fee, all cancellations must be made at least one full calendar week prior to the scheduled program. A cancellation fee will not be charged if the class is canceled due to weather. Program availability is limited due to construction. Scheduling in advance is recommended.
PAYMENT
Purchase orders are the preferred form of payment. Paying through use of a purchase order allows for a faster check-in at the front desk. We also accept cash, checks, and credit card (Visa, MC, AmEx). Payment for programs is required no later than 30 days after the program.
TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS
What Your Students Need if Connecting from Home
Students need an internet connection and a laptop, tablet, or phone in order to connect to our Virtual Field Trips & Learning Experiences.
Students must wear appropriate attire at all times. Clothing with inappropriate language, racial slurs, or anything that would be considered inappropriate in a school setting is not allowed. Appropriate tops and bottoms must be worn.
What You Need if Connecting from Your Classroom
Option One: H.323 Connections
Do you already have a video conferencing system (codec) available? Then you’re set! Polycom, LifeSize, and Cisco are some of the systems out there. See below for scheduling information, and please make sure to set up a test connection with us prior to your program date.
Option Two: Web Conference Connections
If you’re new to the virtual scene, don’t panic! You probably already have the following in your classroom:
-
A desktop computer, laptop or tablet connected to a data projector, white board, or monitor
-
Connection to the internet (we suggest a connection speed of at least 384 kbps)
-
Speakers loud enough for the entire classroom to hear us
-
Webcam (or built-in camera on your computer) positioned to see the classroom
Go to zoom.us/download on your device and download the appropriate software. In order to ensure our studios can connect to your school, we use our own Zoom account and will send you the Meeting ID Number & password once your program date/time has been scheduled. Your museum educator will set up a test connection with you prior to your program.
