Wheelchair accessibility
All exhibit galleries and public spaces are fully wheelchair accessible. The Nathan and Fannye Shafran Planetarium can accommodate three wheelchairs per program. The Museum has wheelchairs available for visitor use at no charge on a first-come, first-served basis. Visitors who require special assistance may inquire with Protection Services near the Museum's Wade Oval Entrance.
Service Animals
Guests with disabilities are welcome to bring their trained or in-training service animal to public areas of the Museum, except for the Ralph Perkins II Wildlife Center & Woods Garden—Presented by KeyBank
. Service animals are restricted from entering the Perkins Wildlife Center because the Museum's collection of live animals may react strongly to the presence of dogs or other unfamiliar animals. Thus, for the safety of our guests, their service animals, other guests, and our live animals, this area is off-limits.
Note: Service animals are working animals, not pets. Pets and comfort animals are not permitted in the Museum.
Personal Care Assistants
A personal care assistant (PCA) or primary caregiver accompanying a visitor with a disability receives free admission. If you are accompanied by a PCA, please notify a Visitor Experience Associate upon arrival. The PCA will receive the same admission pass that the visitor purchases. If the visitor is a member, the PCA will receive free admission but does not count as one of the member’s guests.
Strollers
Strollers are welcome throughout the Museum and outdoors in the Thelma and Kent H. Smith Environmental Courtyard and Perkins Wildlife Center.
Restrooms
Restrooms and family restrooms are available on the Museum's fourth floor (near Corning Gallery). Restrooms, family restrooms, and a mother's room are available in the Education Wing on the Museum's second floor (near the Smead Discovery Center—Presented by PNC). All Museum restrooms are wheelchair accessible.
Amplification devices
Amplification devices are available at no charge for lectures in Murch Auditorium and shows in the Shafran Planetarium.
Bus groups
Groups arriving on buses may disembark from the circular drive in front of the Museum. Bus drivers, please inquire with Protection Services about where you may park your vehicle.
