Every year, our incredible team of over 200 volunteers generously dedicates more than 16,000 hours of service across 20+ departments. From
volunteering behind the scenes in Collections & Research to working directly with our guests, a variety of opportunities are available. We are committed to identifying the best position for each volunteer.
Why Volunteer With Us?
We asked one of our dedicated volunteers what they have enjoyed most about their volunteering experience. Here’s what they had to say:
“Being able to see people of all ages, especially young people, get excited to learn and engage in a hands-on activity. I really enjoy facilitating the cart activities. Not everyone is able to stay engaged and learn by reading from a textbook. Museums have the ability to make people more excited to learn, and hands-on activities definitely can make them even more accessible.”

Youth Opportunities
While we currently do not have specific youth volunteer opportunities available, we deeply value the enthusiasm and passion that young individuals bring to our mission at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History. We are continuously exploring ways to engage with youth volunteers in the future and are excited about the potential for collaborative projects and meaningful contributions from the younger generation.
We encourage young individuals to stay connected with us and explore other ways to get involved, such as participating in educational programs, attending events, or becoming museum advocates in their communities. Learn more about opportunities for teens. Thank you for your support and interest, and we look forward to the possibility of offering youth volunteer opportunities in the future!
